This is an approximation of how the document will be rendered once published. For security reasons, rendering of rich content may be limited or unavailable. Rich content is often displayed in macros, so these elements of content will likely be blocked in this view. Macros that make use of JavaScript or access specific user information are particularly sensitive.
The rendered diff feature aims at giving an insight of what the actual changes of the page will look like. However, for security reasons, we cannot render the changes exactly as they will be once the change will be merged. In particular any macro that uses javascript might not be properly rendered, and any macro that uses specific data from the user won't also be properly rendered. So this view should not be taken as the truth as some differences might appear once published.

The default policy is the safest one but it automatically prevents the rendering of any scripts even if those are part of the sheets of the documents: so it's possible to chose some relaxed policies for better usability of the rendered diff feature.
